Suggested Toppings for the best Homemade Breakfast Pizza
- Scrambled Eggs/Egg Whites Make sure the eggs are not runny, they will make the dough soggy.
- Bacon Bits I used store bought.
- Sausage Links or Bites I used Jimmy Dean turkey Sausage Links.
- Chopped Onions Use white or green onions.
- Shredded Cheese I used Reduced Fat Fiesta Style.
- Ricos White Queso Blanco Cheese Sauce Of course you can use any kind of cheese sauce you prefer, however this queso is the best with these ingredients.
Crust Instructions
Pre-heat your oven to 500 degrees
To get started, you can use my Homemade Pizza Dough recipe linked here.
Once your dough is prepped and in the pan, poke some holes, using a fork, all over the dough. This step is necessary because we need to bake the dough before adding any toppings and we want to prevent bubbling.
Bake the dough for about 10 minutes, or until slightly underbaked.
Toppings Instructions
So while your crust is in the oven, start by making the scrambled eggs. This recipe calls for traditional scrambled eggs so go ahead and make them as you would normally do. Use your choice of milk and seasoning combined with the eggs, and whisk in a bowl. transfer them to a hot greased pan and fold them back and forth until fully cooked. Note... you don't want your eggs runny in this case. Try to make the scrambled eggs on the drier side so that they don't make the crust soggy. After the eggs are done put them to the side. If you are making the bacon yourself, go ahead and make the bacon. I personally chose to use store-bought bacon bits for this to save time and dishes.
Next, if you're adding sausage, cook accordingly to the packaging. I chose to use Jimmy Dean Brown N' Serve Turkey Sausage, so it was two minutes in the microwave for ten links. Once those are cooked, cut them into smaller bits for easy sprinkling.
Finally, chop an onion of your choice. For the recipe pictured, I used a white onion.
Assembly Instructions
After all the toppings are prepped, take the slightly undercooked crust and add a layer of queso. The queso is going to act as the "Sauce" for this pizza. Then add a light layer of shredded cheese.
Once the queso and cheese are added, layer the rest of the toppings in any order you prefer. I normally start with the eggs first. After the eggs, bacon, sausage, onion, and anything else you chose have been added, sprinkle another light layer of cheese on top.
Take the pizza and put it back in the oven until the crust is golden brown. I usually cook it for about two minutes at 500 degrees and then switch to the broil setting to ensure all the cheese is melted and the crust is browned. This part is easier to eyeball rather than using a specific time.
Once cooked, pull from the oven let sit for about five to ten minutes before cutting. Cut the Homemade Breakfast Pizza and ENJOY!
It's important to note that broiling will brown the pizza pretty quickly so make sure you pay attention. It can be easy to burn something when using the broiling setting! SO DON'T FORGET ABOUT YOUR PIZZA IN THE OVEN!
I highly recommend using the Ricos White Queso Blanco Cheese in the can. This has been such a game changer and actually made it taste spot on to the breakfast pizza i was trying to recreate! (You can find this can of queso at your local Walmart.)
