Is making Homemade Pizza Dough Easy? With this recipe, the answer is YES! As a Western New Yorker, we take pride in our pizza dough, so you know this one has to be good.

I know normally when you think of Homemade Pizza Dough, it sounds like a long and time-consuming task. I get it. But, what if I told you that this dough can be made in about 35 minutes, from start to finish?

What’s the Key??

The key to getting a super yummy Pizza dough in under an hour is my good friend, Fast Rising Yeast. This is probably the most important ingredient in this Homemade Pizza Dough. Not to mention it’s probably one of the cheapest ingredients you can buy.

A New York Pizza Mind…

As a New York Girl, pizza is in my blood. Plus, I’m always on the hunt for food that tastes great, doesn’t make me feel guilty, and reminds me a little of home. Unfortunately, not all pizza doughs are the same, and to be honest, there’s no pizza like Western New York Pizza.

Since I moved away from home, I had to start making my own because I couldn’t find any that reached my high expectations. I’ve tested this recipe with several different flours, combos, and techniques, but this one by far is my favorite. It tastes good, gets a 100% husband approval rating, it’s easy, and the best part… it’s universal!

Universal?

This dough can be modified to fit your needs and can be used with any kind of pizza you desire. If you wanted to make a calzone instead of pizza, it can be done. If you wanted to make garlic knots, this dough can be used. It’s adaptable so it can be used in a variety of ways  to fit your taste buds and preferences!

Plus, I love recipes that can be used in more than one way, and this one is a great one to keep in your pocket!

Homemade Pizza Dough Easy Ingredients - Nicolette Kerner

Ingredients for Homemade Pizza Dough…

  • 1 cup of Hot Water
  • 1 packet of Fast-Rising Yeast
  • 1 Tablespoon of regular Olive Oil
  • 1 Tablespoon of Stevia (or any sweetener/sugar you choose)
  • Parmesan Cheese (1/4 to 1/2 a cup, this ingredient is optional)
  • 1 teaspoon of Salt
  • 1 and 3/4 cups of Almond Flour
  • 1 cup of all-purpose flour
  • Garlic Powder (Optional)

NOTE – Keep some extra all-purpose flour to the side to be used for rolling out the dough.

The First Steps…

The first thing I suggest is for you to figure out what kind of pizza or food you’re making with this dough. For example, if you’re making Homemade Breakfast Pizza, you’re going to want to bake your dough before adding toppings. If you’re doing a traditional cheese and pepperoni pizza, you’re going to add your toppings before baking.

For the purpose of this post let’s say you’re making a traditional cheese and pepperoni pizza.

Preheat and Prep…

Before you start prepping the dough, preheat your oven to 500 degrees so that it has time to heat while the dough is being formed. After that get one cup of water and heat it. I normally put it in the microwave for one minute and go until it’s hot to the touch.

Once the water is good and hot, add one full packet of the Fast-Rising Yeast, one tablespoon of stevia, and one tablespoon of regular olive oil into the water and mix it. You can use extra virgin olive oil, but I personally use regular olive oil. Let the yeast and water mixture sit for about five to ten minutes

While you are waiting for the yeast to sit in the water mixture, in a medium to large sized mixing bowl, combine the following: one and 3/4 cups of almond flour, one cup of all-purpose flour, 1/4 to 1/2 cup of parmesan cheese, and one teaspoon of salt. This is also where I add other seasonings like garlic powder or pepper if I wanted. Please note, the additional seasonings are completely optional.

It Can be Kneady …

After the yeast has had time to absorb, combine the liquid with the flour and mix. For this process, I suggest using a spatula instead of a whisk. The spatula will make it much easier, trust me! Once the dough is all combined, transfer it over to your counter or where you plan to roll the dough out.

The dough will still be softer and sticky, so this is where I add more all-purpose flour a little at a time, while kneading the dough. Kneading the dough is essential to working the yeast and flour together. Basically, if you don’t knead the dough, it will not turn out.

The Final Roll…

Once the dough is more firm and the kneading is complete, form it into a ball. Take your rolling pin of choice (metal, wood, or plastic, it doesn’t matter) and start rolling it out to fit your pan size. I normally use a 16×10 cookie sheet that is about 1/2 inch thick. I can’t link my exact cookie sheet since I got it years ago at HomeGoods, but I’ve linked some cookie sheets on Amazon that are very similar!

After your dough is at your desired thickness, get ready to make the transfer. REMEMBER… before transferring your dough to the cookie sheet or pan, make sure you either grease or spray so it doesn’t stick.

Tip…

To make it easier when transferring your dough to the cookie sheet, roll the dough onto the rolling pin itself. (Be sure to add a little bit of all-purpose flour where the dough meets so it will actually unroll for you.) Then unroll it onto the sheet.

Mama Mia That’s a Good Pizza Pie!

Once you transfer your dough, depending on the pizza you decided to make, you need to either add your toppings or bake the crust.

Again, for the purpose of this post, we said it was a pepperoni and cheese pizza. So now add your desired toppings, once it’s all decorated the way you want, put the pizza in the oven. Bake for about 15 minutes or until golden brown. VOILA! You have yourself a yummy homemade pizza!

Final Remarks…

This recipe is fun to make with friends, and even better when you use it for a date night with your significant other. My husband and I make this Homemade Pizza Dough a couple times a month and enjoy changing up the style. It normally gives us about 8 good sized pieces (See my Deliciously Easy Homemade Breakfast Pizza post for photos) and we each decorate one half as a personalized pizza! It’s one of our favorite meals on a Friday night!

Don’t forget to comment your creations and let me know if you have any good pizza combos to try, I’d love to hear from you!

Instructions

First step before starting the dough...

  • The first thing I suggest is for you to figure out what kind of pizza or food you're making with this dough.
For example, if you're making Homemade Breakfast Pizza, you're going to want to bake your dough before adding toppings.
If you're doing a traditional cheese and pepperoni pizza, you're going to add your toppings before baking.
  • After deciding what kind of pizza you want to make, preheat your oven to 500 degrees.

Start with the Yeast...

  • Start by getting one cup of water and heating it. I normally put it in the microwave for one minute and go until it's hot to the touch.
  • Once the water is good and hot, add one full packet of the Fast-Rising Yeast, one tablespoon of stevia, and one tablespoon of regular olive oil into the water and mix it.
  • Let the yeast and water mixture sit for about five to ten minutes off to the side.

The Dry Ingredients...

  • In a medium mixing bowl, combine the following:
One and 3/4 cups of almond flour
    One cup of all-purpose flour
1/4 to 1/2 cup of parmesan cheese
    One teaspoon of salt
  • This is also where I add other seasonings like garlic powder or pepper if I wanted. Please note, the additional seasonings are completely optional.

Combine and Knead

  • After the yeast has had time to absorb, combine the liquid with the flour and mix.
  • Once the dough is all combined, transfer it over to your counter or where you plan to roll the dough out.
  • The dough will still be softer and sticky, so this is where I add more all-purpose flour, a little at a time while kneading the dough.
  • It helps to make the dough less sticky when sprinkling more all-purpose flour while kneading.

Get Rolling...

  • Once the dough is firmer and the kneading is complete, form it into a ball.
  • Take your rolling pin of choice (metal, wood, or plastic, it doesn't matter) and start rolling it out to fit your pan size.
  • I normally use a 16x10 cookie sheet that is about 1/2 inch thick.
  • After your dough is at your desired thickness, get ready to make the transfer.
  • REMEMBER... before transferring your dough to the cookie sheet or pan, make sure you either grease or spray so it doesn't stick.

The final steps...

  • Once you transfer your dough, depending on the pizza you decided to make, you need to either add your toppings or bake the crust.
  • After figuring out if you need toppings yet or not, bake for about 15 minutes or until golden brown.
  • EAT YOUR YUMMY CREATION!

Notes

Tip...

To make it easier when transferring your dough to the cookie sheet, roll the dough onto the rolling pin itself. (Be sure to add a little bit of all-purpose flour where the dough meets so it will actually unroll for you.) Then unroll it onto the sheet.
