You have to trust me when I say this cake is SUPER EASY to make, hence the name “The Easiest Cake Recipe”. It consists of all very easy and normal cake-making ingredients, but it tastes and looks extravagant!

How Easy is the Easiest Cake Recipe?

EXTREMELY! If you can follow simple directions and cut up some fruit pieces, that is all you will have to do! For those of you looking for a simple recipe that will blow people’s minds when you show up at the party, this one will make you look like a star!

This cake is also universal and can be used for more than just the 4th of July. It can be whatever cake flavor, and whatever shape you desire. It’s all up to you!

Tools and Utensils…

Since there isn’t anything crazy difficult with this cake, you won’t need anything super crazy in the tools and utensils department either. To make the easiest cake recipe, you really only need the basics.

For the cake…

For the cake, you’re going to need a medium to large sized mixing bowl and a mixing spoon or spatula. (I recommend a spatula, but that’s all based on preference.) Two to three cake pans in whatever shape you prefer. (I used silicone star pans for this specific recipe linked here.) And non-stick spray is ESSENTIAL, DON”T FORGET IT!

Note… If you decide to use silicone cake pans, I also suggest you have a cookie sheet to place them on in the oven. But putting them on the cookie sheet makes it MUCH easier when removing them from the oven.

For the Homemade Frosting…

For the homemade whipped frosting, you’re going to need either a hand mixer or a stand mixer. I used my gorgeous Kitchen Aid Stand mixer that I Linked here from Amazon.

For the Fruit…

Finally, you will need a cutting board and a knife to chop some fruit for the filling and top of the cake.

Tools that are not essential but recommended…

Some tools I used that are NOT essential but HIGHLY recommended if your trying to go for the look pictured are linked below…

First Things First…

Always start by pre-heating your oven. For this recipe, pre-heat to 350 degrees. That way it’s pre-heating when you’re making the batter.

Making the Cake…

This cake is pretty straightforward, HOWEVER, I make one simple change when I use box cake mix to help with moisture. You may have noticed that the ingredients listed sour cream and not the normal box ingredient, water…

Secret Tip…

When using any box mix, replace the water with sour cream. This makes the cake taste more decadent and brings moisture into the cake. Seriously, people don’t realize it’s boxed cake when they eat it!

Note… when you make the substitution you use the exact same amount. If the box calls for 1 cup of water, you would use 1 cup of sour cream.

So to make the cake you need to start by taking the boxed mix and pouring it into the bowl. After that add the eggs, sour cream, and oil. (Quantity varies for how much of each ingredient is based on how many boxes you decide to use.)

For Reference…

For reference, I used 3 boxes of cake mix. That made three layers and two jumbo cupcakes, with a few cake scraps after leveling the cake.

Once all ingredients are added, mix and add the batter into the cake pans. AGAIN, MAKE SURE YOU SPRAY YOUR CAKE PANS!! Put in the oven for about 30-35 minutes or until fully cooked.

Making the BEST Homemade Whipped White Chocolate Frosting…

This is titled the “Easiest Cake Recipe” … quite frankly… this is the EASIEST frosting recipe…

Start by pouring three pints of Heavy Whipping cream into the mixer bowl. Then add one full package of the Hershey’s White Chocolate Pudding Mix. Whip until you see thick peaks. That’s it… I told you it was EASY!

THE FUN PART!

Once your cakes have cooled completely (I normally put them in the fridge for at least 2 hours) it’s time to assemble! After your cakes have been leveled to your liking, put your bottom layer on your cake stand (dish, cake board, whatever you decide to use).

Add your frosting into your piping bag and pipe thick circles covering the entire top of the bottom layer. Then take the fresh fruit that you washed and cut and decorate the layer. Once the layer has been covered in frosting and fruit, add the second layer and repeat the process. Do the exact same thing for the top layer and VOILA! That’s it!

Final thoughts for the EASIEST CAKE RECIPE…

This cake is so universal, you can make it using chocolate cake and just strawberries, funfetti cake and more sprinkles, the possibilities are endless! It also helps that it tastes AMAZING TOO! If you bring this cake to the party I’m sure you’ll be the star of the show and everyone will be asking you where you bought it!

This cake is esthetically pleasing to the eye and makes for such a fun summer treat! If you’ve gotten this far comment below if you have ever made anything similar, or let me know what you think if you try it! As always I love to read your feedback! Have a wonderful summer season!
