These simple yet effective home life hacks will change your life. They not only are going to help with homeowner necessities like organization, and budgeting, but some of these are great for making your old things new, saving your garden, and fixing common household issues too! Â
As a new homeowner, we are always looking for great ways to make daily tasks easier. Use the following tips to make your home more efficient!Â
Tupperware Organizer… Excuse me what!Â
If you are anything like me, you love to have organized spaces in your household. The Kitchen especially! We all know those horrid Tupperware cabinets full of containers that literally fall out at you when you open the door. Not to mention, it’s a disaster trying to find the matching lids. One of the best aha moments I had as a new homeowner was to use the silverware organizer that didn’t fit my drawer as an organizer for my Tupperware lids! When I tell you it solved so many issues … let’s just say there is a reason its number one on this list! Check out this organizer on Amazon to make all your organization dreams come true!
Save your Garden Flag with these!Â
Sometimes Mother Nature works against you… especially when you’re trying to have cute garden areas. I can attest to losing several garden flags to the wild winds of the Midwest too. One of the most cost-effective ways to save your cute garden decor is to use those handy-dandy binder clips! YES… BINDER CLIPS! Take those bad boys and clip your flags to the holders and enjoy the cuteness until it’s time to change the season. I’ve linked some binder clips here on Amazon so you can start saving those flags ASAP!
That Clorox Wand has more than one use!Â
So you know how the soap runs down your white tubs and leaves that annoying stain, then you have to sit there and scrub it using all the elbow grease in your body… yeah, stop doing that. Make your life easier and take that handy Clorox Toilet Wand with the disposable heads and use that to clean your shower. Trust me, my husband is a mechanic and the amount of dirt he comes home with, you would expect my white showers to be brown… spoiler alert, they’re sparkling white! This Clorox wand is legitimately one of the best cleaning tools I own! Check out this link on Amazon to grab one before they’re gone!
Ugly Dry Erase Board… No thank you!Â
Just because you have to do your work, doesn’t mean it has to be ugly. I recently came across this home life hack when decorating my new office. Dry Erase boards are very useful when it comes to planning, staying organized, and writing out ideas. But honestly, most of the time, they are not super attractive, and they are just out right expensive! So… I decided to take my large 24×36 inch picture frame and make it my very own cute and functional dry erase board! The best part is, you can change out the background of your new “dry erase board” seasonally, or to match your decor perfectly. You can even put your office logo in it if you want! The possibilities are endless! As long as you have a glass or plexiglass piece in the frame it works like a charm! Do yourself a favor and check out this cute functional frame on Amazon!
Blinds under $10.00…. Is this a scam?Â
A little secret my mom told me was that places like Home Depot carry “temporary blinds”. These puppies are great to use when you’re indecisive about what the heck you want to put on your windows. We moved into our new home over a year ago and they are still going strong! I’ve actually gotten compliments on how nice my blinds look, little do they know I paid under $5.00 per blind and they were supposed to be temporary. Honestly, I just like how clean they look so I haven’t changed them yet… Check out Home Depot if you’re in the market for a quick blind fix, they have a variety to choose from!
Spray Paint fixes Everything!
Need I say more? Spray paint truly does fix everything. You don’t like the color of the hardware on your cabinet, spray paint it. Wish that light fixture was a different color, spray paint it. Did you change your color scheme and now you have to change everything, SPRAY PAINT IT. I can’t begin to tell you the amount of things that I’ve loved if it was in a different color. I have changed so many things to fit my style with a simple can of good old spray paint. I’ve linked my current favorite can of spray paint here on Amazon.Â
Irish Spring Soap in my Garden… That’s strange.
Remember that time when you spent a bunch of money and put in a lot of effort to make your garden or flower beds beautiful, then you had wild animals swing by and ruin them… Just like the Clorox wands, those bars of Irish Spring Soap do more than just clean your body. Take a bar of original Irish spring soap and shred them around your plants. This will protect your gardens and flower beds from any animals from wanting to eat the plants and even helps to keep flies away! Don’t worry, the soap will not hurt your plants, it just acts as a deterrent for the animals. Think about it when your mom put soap in your mouth as a kid it didn’t taste too good, did it. Grab some soap on Amazon here!
Bar Keeper’s Friend… Oh wait, you meant the cleaning supplies.
No, I’m not talking about being friends with your bartender. This home life hack is for your glass dishes that you can’t get cleaned. It’s called Bar Keepers Friend. You know those “burnt” stains on your glass pans or dishes that will not come off in the dishwasher, and you’ve even scrubbed your fingertips off trying to do it by hand… yeah, trust me just use this product. This stuff is great for dishes, glass stove tops, sinks, etc. It’s a complete game changer and keeps my Pyrex casserole dishes looking brand spanking new! Not to mention it’s literally the only product that I can get to keep those heat stains on my glass stove top away! Check out this cleaning pack on Amazon, you really won’t regret it!
You don’t have to be a pro golfer to use a wooden golf tee.
I’ve never Golfed in my life, but you bet as a homeowner I have a pack of wooden golf tees just in case. You know how dads know how to fix everything, well this tip I specifically got from mine! If you’re ever trying to drill into wood but the screw stripped it out and now it’s just a hole, put a wooden golf tee in it. Once you have the tee in as far as it will go, cut the excess off and BAM, you can drill another screw in! It’s a simple fix that can solve your issues in just minutes. Plus, it’s a lot cheaper than having to replace the entire door frame because you were trying to change the hinges and stripped the screw out. Don’t worry, I’ve linked some here on Amazon.
Squeaky Doors no more!Â
That squeaky door has been bothering you hasn’t it… Don’t worry to fix this, everything you need is right in your kitchen. Yes, I said your kitchen. Not everyone has a garage full of tools and things to fix every issue at their disposal, but if you live in a house, you do have a kitchen. If you have a kitchen, you have non-stick spray. Take your favorite non-stick spray and spray the hinges of that squeaky door. After spraying it move the door back and forth to get the oil worked in and you should be good to go! It works every time. Here’s some non-stick spray on Amazon.
