Chocolate Brownies Recipe - Nicolette Kerner

If chocolate is your weakness, then you must try this easy homemade Chocolate Brownies Recipe!

Chocolate, chocolate, oh and more chocolate brownies please!

I personally have a small obsession with chocolate.  I would even suggest letting this tasty treat have its own food group if possible. My husband can confirm, it’s rare for me to go even just one day without it! So, I think it’s safe to assume that this chocolate brownies recipe is at the top of my dessert list!

But what’s even better, this Recipe contains ingredients that you probably already have in your kitchen. I, like most of you, work full time and am always on the go. So naturally when I’m craving something to satisfy my sweet tooth after a long day, I want it to be super satisfying and easy. Plus, I want to be able to shop my pantry instead of having to go to the grocery store or wait for groceries to be delivered.

To top it all off this recipe is vegan and gluten-free, so to me I think that’s a win, win! I especially love them because it also doesn’t contain nearly as much sugar as traditional brownies!

Chocolate Brownies Recipe Ingredients - Nicolette Kerner

Ingredients you’ll need…

  • 1 cup of Vanilla Almond Butter
  • 3/4 of a cup of Sugar-Free Syrup
  • 1 Tablespoon of Imitation Vanilla Flavoring
  • A pinch/dash of Salt
  • 1 teaspoon of Baking Powder
  • 3/4 of a cup of Hershey’s Special Dark Cocoa Powder

If you desire you can add a 7th ingredient and put in your favorite chocolate chips, m&m’s, or other fun toppings as well. Please note you can also substitute the Vanilla Almond Butter for any Nut Butter of your choice. However, you should trust me on this one, the Vanilla Almond Butter is AMAZING in this recipe! You may also use regular syrup as well, but know it will increase the sugar intake for this specific recipe.

So good you will never want to make boxed brownies again!

I love that this recipe doesn’t use flour, eggs, or added sugar. Mainly because I’m on my own health journey, I’m sure you can relate. My main goal is to try to make food choices that don’t replace my sweet cravings with guilt. So when I discovered this recipe, I couldn’t help sharing it with my modifications because it turned out so good! Plus, the fact that my husband told me to make these again made it even better. He also said that they tasted better than regular boxed brownies so that really spoke for itself too!

This Chocolate Brownies Recipe is beyond easy and requires just a few simple things…
  • a mixing bowl
  • a spoon for stirring
  • an oven
  • a microwave (optional)

You know… the normal baking requirements.

What I’m getting at is that it’s so easy literally anyone could do it. So if you are one of those people who doesn’t feel confident in baking trust me you’ve got this one in the bag!

Now you’re probably asking yourself how do I actually make this chocolate brownies recipe?

The first thing you’re going to need to do is to get out all the ingredients listed above. Followed by the necessary tools needed such as the bowl, spoon, baking pan, etc. Then you are going to preheat your oven to 325 degrees. After setting your oven to preheat, you’re going to need to prep your baking pan. The baking pan should be either a 9×9 baking pan or an 8×8 pan. (I used a glass 8×8 Pyrex pan for reference.)

WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT FORGET TO SPRAY OR LINE YOUR BAKING PAN!

Trust me you will thank me for the reminder because nothing is worse than pulling your tasty treat out and not being able to remove it from the pan!

After preheating your oven, take one cup of the Vanilla Almond Butter and heat it in the microwave for about 30-45 seconds. This step is used to soften it and make it easier for stirring. Please note that heating the almond butter is optional but recommended! After that, add it to the mixing bowl if you didn’t already use it for the heating process.

Next, add 3/4 of a cup of Sugar-Free Syrup, 1 tablespoon of Imitation Vanilla Flavoring, 1 teaspoon of baking powder, a pinch/dash of salt (not too much), and finally 3/4 of a cup of Hershey’s Special Dark Cocoa Powder to the mixing bowl. Once all ingredients are added, mix them together using a spoon or whisk (I strongly suggest a spoon or even a spatula over a whisk, but that’s just my personal preference.)

Once all ingredients are well-combined, the mixture should look like a thick brownie batter consistency.  Now transfer the mixture to your baking pan. This is where you can add any toppings that you may want. Finally put the pan in the oven for 50 minutes to 1 hour. (Baking time will vary depending on your oven and type of pan used.)

Final steps…

Check your brownies after 50 minutes to decide if they need any extra time. I used a toothpick and checked the center. If the toothpick comes out without it looking like it’s covered in batter, then you should be good to leave them out. I personally would just say to bake them to your own preference, especially since there are no eggs to worry about. Some people like it gooier and others prefer their baked goods crunchy, again it’s totally up to you!

There is one thing for certain though, these yummy treats will smell so good, that you’ll barely be able to wait to cut into them. So if you try out this recipe out, comment below and let me know how you liked it and feel free to share this post with others!
